"Darcylicious.com -
an extraordinarily professional fan site"
Also named by Jonathan Ross at BAFTA 2009
It all started with Jane Austen...the Darcylicious duo found themselves unexpectedly designing fan sites. This was in response to Pride & Prejudice, incorporated Northanger Abbey and then Shakespeare's plays became involved. Progressing from basic HTML sites to large Content Management Systems, a new passion was discovered and talent unearthed.
As a team, we still run 5 fan sites; these sites allow us to play with different layouts, try out new developments and then employ them in client's own sites. We proudly display images and links to our fan sites to show what is possible. If any sites in our portfolio look suspiciously similar, it will be because clients have loved that particular design and wanted it for their own site.
Our preference now, is to use a free open source content management system called Drupal. We find it gives a lot of flexibility with even the smallest sites and looks professional. We aim to design a site with a clean look and easy to navigate layout. To that end, we are always searching for and making new, attractive themes. The beauty of Drupal is that the layouts can be changed easily. We find sites such as CMS Lounge make wonderful layouts for us to use.
Part of the fan site experience involved us becoming extremely proficient with Photoshop and other design programmes. As well as the ability to design icons, banners and logos; we can make audio clips, video clips and animations. All these can be incorporated in to any Drupal site.
